Its five servers for enterprise resource planning, over 40 PC workstations, and sophisticated storage technology in which 4 Hänel storage systems play a decisive role, demanded skilled teamwork from all those involved right from the planning stage.

44,000 medical and pharmaceutical products are available at all times. The entire building complex with about 61,000 SQ. YD. of floor space covers numerous health-care services. Doctors from a variety of specialist fields, in-house surgical rooms and a welfare center are all housed under one roof. The pharmacy's customers include
not only patients who are supplied with medicines directly in the salesroom.

As well as catering to numerous customers on-site, the pharmacy also offers home deliveries to patients needing continuous medical supplies. It also delivers to care homes for the elderly, residential nursing homes, hospital outpatient and casualty wards and teaching hospitals.

To ensure that the 44,000 drugs and pharmaceutical products are constantly and immediately avail - able, three Hänel Lean-Lift®s and one Hanel Rotomat® with heights up to 33 FT. were integrated in the building complex. This increased the available storage area by 4300 SQ. FT.

In view of the pharmacy's inner-city location, this space-saving solution was just what was needed. It was possible to reduce the storage footprint by 50%.

Goods to user is the motto, not user to goods. Personnel costs and cycle times can be reduced! High-performance control units and computer links ensure that the Rotomat can be put to use flexibly and on an individual basis! The required parts are brought to the ergonomic retrieval height at the touch of a button! Safety is of paramount importance. No climbing of ladders; no danger of accidents! The Rotomat protects from dust, light and unauthorized access!

The Hänel software handles the management of the entire pharmacy and controls the two Rotomat carousels. Direct connection to the in-house IT system ensures a continuous exchange of data.
