Cotterman Ladder Track Systems:

Cotterman Company manufactures a variety of products such as: SingleTrak, DualTrak, and DualSideTrak. The ladder systems are specially made for reaching product from shelving. The ladders are mounted to the shelving which rolls along a track. These three products each have specific characteristics that are designed to meet our customers’ needs. A common used for Track Ladder systems are in retail stores. Cotterman’s innovations and designs stem from working with national store chains.

Stress-free Access to Shelves in Small Storage Spaces

The smooth rolling upper track fixture and wheels allow for easy movement of the ladder along the track. On the front shelf edge is the upper rolling trolley fixture which is mounted to the straight track. The steps have rough tread for the user to keep their balance. The ladder is made of rugged all-welded steel which features 5” deep by 14” wide steps.

Quick Access, Easy to Use, Easy to Store

The Ladder is positioned at an 80º against the shelf. The bottom wheel has a brake to prevent the ladder from moving when in use. The ladder is designed to be easily stored. The ladder has a tight vertical position against the shelves which allow the user access to the equipment in the aisle. Oak rolling library ladders & single track wooden ladders are available.

Dual Track Ladder

The Dual Teak Ladder is patented design provides a safe, easy access to tall shelving on each side of narrow aisles. The user’s vertical storage space is typically increased by 33%.

The Dual Teak Ladder is mounted to the overhead heavy-duty carriage which is attached to the shelving on both sides of the shelving sections. The Ladder rolls along these tracks; the swivel caster on the bottom of the ladder allows it to easily move and the ladder filmy sits on rubber pad legs during use. Also, the ladder rolls form side to side across the track mounted on the shelving.

• Ladder is 16" wide with a 71° climbing position. Moves on upper carriage and lower 2" swivel spring loaded casters.
• Preferred track mounting height up to a maximum of 12' 11" and aisle width from 30" to 62".
• Maximum reaching height is 4 feet above the track level.
• Uses L17 brackets on 4' maximum space, #78 track and 10" joint dowels.

Offers the User Safe and Convenient Access to High Rack Shelving

The Dual Side Track is great for high traffic areas. The user will typically use up to 50% less aisle space as opposed to a free standing ladder. The ladder is mounted to the overhead trolley carriage. It has two tracks installed to the length of the aisle and placed vertically 4 feet apart. Thus, a single ladder can reach up to 16 feet of shelving with only 20 feet of floor space.

Fast Access to Storage with a Comfortable Climbing Angle

The stairs are at a comfortable 50 degrees with abrasive treads on each step and handrails for climbing up and down safely. While standing on the 27 feet deep platform there is a 42 feet guardrail that extends above the ladder. The user can easily roll the ladder along the length of the shelving aisles with swivel casters at the bottom. The casters can be activated to move to each position. It firmly sits on it’s rubber pad legs during use. Also, the ladder can pivot across the aisle to allow a more convenient way to access storage or rack-mounted obstacles.

Use the Charts below to browse the different options available for Dual Side Track Mounted Ladders. (Remember to measure the distance from the floor to the desired track mounting surface and it should be no more than 4 feet below the top of the tallest product being retrieved. Then select the number of steps and platforms height closest to your measurements.) The lower track is installed 4 feet below the upper track trolley track. Oak Library Ladder

Cotterman have been selling the #1 Straight Side Oak Track Ladder since 1920’s. The Oak Track Ladders have improved over time to be used for many applications. The most common uses are retail store shelving, libraries, and bookstores. The quality of this furniture grade product adds to the charm of the ladder. The Oak Ladder also appeals to home libraries, retail floor/front end store settings.  Cotterman provides many wood options including several stains.

The Oak Library Ladder is 16” wide, about 28” across the bottom wheels and with an 80º angle to the floor. The ladder’s track mounting is manufactured to the exact height required. Typically the track is mounted in line with a shelf that is not more than 3’ below the tallest product to be accessed. It is not recommended to buy a track height larger than 13’ 6.  If the Aisles are more than 36” wide it is recommended to have one ladder on both sides to reach the product safely. The ladder will be above the top of the track 4”. Cotterman recommends a ladder for every 20 to 30 feet of the track. The horizontal length from the face of the product being stored to the center line of track should be more than 1 1/2" to clear the upper fixtures. Never screw the brackets directly to the front of the plywood uprights posts or shelving because the strength fastening may be insufficient.

Track

No. 78 track is a special 15/16" diameter steel tube with a longitudinal slot. Furnished with a ship-proof, scratch resistant black oxide finish. Straight track is available in 10' lengths. Curved track sections are made from 10' piece with a 30' radius, 90º curve in the center. They are finished for inside corners only. For outside corners, two separate runs of track are required.

Track Support Brackets and End Support Brackets

A wide selection of brackets is available to support the No. 78 track. All are made so that they can be slipped into the track through the slot to the desired position before fastening the shelving. These brackets are constructed of malleable iron or steel and finished in black enamel. Approximate shipping weight of track with brackets in 1 lb. per foot.

For each end of a track run, end brackets designated by the suffix "E" are furnished with steel stops to prevent the ladder from rolling of end of track. Intermediate or center brackets are designated by the suffix "C".

Brackets For Use with No. 33 or 36 Upper Fixtures Only

L10: For Fastening on top or under side of shelving, generally with pan head screws.
L11 Similar to L10, but allows up to 2 1/2" of additional space between track and face of shelving.

L11T: For mounting on vertical side of an upright.

L15: For Mounting on front edge of upright.

L17: Same as L15 but provides 1 5/8" additional space between track and face of shelving

L56: For mounting on front edge of shelf where other brackets cannot be used. Compatible with L15 brackets, can be used as intermediate to L15 where uprights are spaced greater than 4 feet. Made in 2 parts for convenience in mounting.
