Manufacturer of building services and security further expands its central dispatch warehouse with Hänel Lean-Lifts

The sales organization Hänel Germany recently clinched the sale of 4 Lean-Lifts 2860-825 to EFB-Elektronik GmbH in Bielefeld.

EFB-Elektronik is a manufacturer and system supplier in the fields of structural cabling, network and security systems, and 19" cabinet solutions and sub-assemblies for industrial applications. Their customer base includes not only the world's top players in IT and the security sector but also end customers in industry. Currently EFB-Elektronik employs around 150 people at 2 production sites in Germany. Since 2004 EFB-Elektronik has belonged to the international TKH Group which is headquartered in the Netherlands.

In the summer of 2010 EFB-Elektronik was faced with the problem of storing its fast-moving items more compactly and making order picking more efficient at its central warehouse in Bielefeld. It is in Bielefeld that all the incoming orders from customers around the world are centrally recorded and processed. Up to 90 % of the incoming orders are dispatched the same day, which is why the interest in automated storage systems arose. When we first went to study the situation in the warehouse, a rival bid was already on the table. Taking the layout of the premises into consideration, we were able to draw up an alternative concept which utilized the available space more efficiently, owing to the different device width, and therefore provided more storage capacity.

In subsequent project and IT discussions, and at a reference visit, the benefits of Hänel systems convinced the customer. At the end of 2010 the first 4 Hänel Lean-Lifts were installed. The project implementation and installation ran smoothly and the optimization effects were even better than expected. So just 1 year later 4 more Lean-Lifts were ordered. And in a third phase the existing facility will be expanded yet again to a total of 12 Lean-Lifts.
